Jester Chess is a fascinating version of Chess that enhances and increases the level of complexity of the standard game of Chess in a novel fashion. Being played on a 10 x 10 square chequerboard, it is intrinsically a more complex game. But the additional Jester pieces also contribute massively to the interest:- The default version of the game is played exactly like normal chess with the addition of the Jester that moves like a Queen for its first move only and thereafter moves 1 or 2 squares along rows or columns but not diagonally.

Those looking to really blow their mind might like to try another version of the game wherein the Jester moves the same way as the most recent piece played. So, if you move your Knight, your opponent will be able to move a Jester like a Knight for his next move!

Jester 10 x 10 Chess Sets

In addition to being a great new version of Chess, the games that we have made available are a high quality piece of workmanship. The grand pieces are double-weighted with excellent Staunton detailing and a nice feel. They are made from boxwood in 4 different styles:

• Black/Natural - lacquer finish
• Black/White - lacquer finish
• Red/White - lacquer finish
• Black/Natural - burnt finish

Our burnt wood pieces have black leather undersides; the other 3 sets have green felt undersides. You have a choice of 3 high quality boxes to store your pieces - Teak, Black Leather or Wooden with a Black Satinwood finish.

10 x 10 Chequerboards

Designed for use with our Jester Chess sets are these enormous, high quality 10 x 10 chequerboards. The boards are inlaid with Maple and are very large - more than 2 feet square. There are 3 types: Maple & Mahogany (red brown) Maple & Walnut (medium brown) Maple & Wenge (dark brown) Boards are 65cm (25.5 inches) across with 5cm (2 inch) squares.
