Welsh players tend to use thinner pins than those used in England. The styles can vary but often they are thin with a nobble on top.
The 10 inch pins tend to be used in the Glamorgan area with 4 1/2 inch balls while the 8 inch pins are often found in the Rhonda area of Wales and for these balls from 3 - 4 inches are used. 9 inch pins are popular around Newport and would be used with 4 1/2 inch balls.
Note: The shape of Welsh Skittles can vary considerably from town to town. The shapes sold as standard by Masters Games may not be exactly the same shape as those you currently use.
