Stoolball

Stoolball posts wickets
Before Cricket, the quintessential English game, there was Stoolball.  It is fabled that Stoolball was originally played by milkmaids using their milking stools for wickets and their hands for bats.  Whatever the origin, it is certainly true that most bat and ball games are descended from Stoolball and the modern version of the game is still a popular recreation in the Southern counties of England.

The Stoolball wickets are metal 50 x 50mm (2x2 inches) uprights dual pole base. At the top of each post is a white painted batting board 300 x 300mm (12 x 12 inches). Height to the top of the board is 4 feet, 8 inches.
