When Croquet appeared in England in the 1850s, it was John Jaques who led the field in producing the first commercially successful sets. Although Jaques did not invent Croquet nor did they exhibit a croquet set at the Great Exhibition as they often claim, it is correct to say that they were instrumental in bringing the game to the mass market and that they have been producing high quality croquet sets for more than 150 years.
Our research has determined that John Jaques did in fact exhibit at the Great London Exposition in the 1860s where they won at least 2 gold medals for their croquet equipment. That reputation has remained constant and today Jaques are still the leading manufacturer of Croquet sets and Croquet equipment.
