Pick-up sticks or Mikado is an old game going back at least to Victorian times where it went by the trade names of Spillikins or Spellicans. A more recent version going back to the 1970s was Jack Straws.
Pick-up sticks and Jack Straws are games of physical and mental skill as each player, in turn, must remove a stick from the pile without disturbing the remaining ones. Mikado is a fun family game that is now available in giant form for the garden - terrific for parties and events.
