Short Mat Fenders & Middle Block

Short Mat Bowlers require the use of fenders and a centre block. The white fenders prevent the bowls shooting off the ends of the carpet and are the equivalent of the ditch around lawn bowls greens.

The middle block sits in the middle of the carpet forcing bowlers to bowl around them and preventing aggressive and fast shots which are inappropriate on these smaller, indoor carpets.

Both Fenders and middle block are compulsory for the game of Short Mat Bowls but one option is the self-aligning middle-block that should not need to be reset if nudged by an errant bowl during play.
