Masters Traditional Games has gone to extreme lengths to obtain genuine Oware boards from West Africa. It is easy to buy Chinese-manufactured boards but why do that when you can have the real thing?

If Africa were a nation, then Mancala would be the National Game of Africa. There are hundreds of versions of Mancala played throughout Asia and Africa but Oware is the most popular version of Mancala in the world. Originating in West Africa and also played to a high level in the Caribbean, it is now a familar sight across Europe and America. It is the game usually played at competition level but is simple to learn and is great for children, enhancing both maths and strategy skills - from 5 years upwards.

Our boards are hand-made in Ghana from red-stained, Osese hardwood. The motifs on top are either an elephant or the "Gye Nyame" symbol which represents the Omnipotence and immortality of God for the Ashanti tribe.

Includes real Bonduc seeds and a rules sheet. Dimensions: 42cm by 13cm(open).These boards are not high quality items and, as with all hand-made products, some have minor imperfections. This product contains small parts that represent a choking hazard for small children. Not suitable for children under 5 years old.
